All events for the year will be held at Uniting Church, 567 Glen Huntly Road Elsternwick 3185 in the East Meeting Room.  This church is very near our old rooms on the opposite side of the road It can be reached by Tram, also has good car parking.  We have a good-sized room which will comfortably seat 25 people and a kitchen with tea/coffee making facilities. 

February 1st – Welcome to our new digs, social afternoon with a short discussion on what’s been happening since we last met in December.  New rooms, rules, where is everything located.  Starts at 2pm – 4pm.  Light refreshments to celebrate our new year ahead.  All welcome.

March 1st – What can the Unicorn teach us?

“There were wild elephants in the country, and numerous unicorns which are nearly as big” said Marco Polo of his travels around the Orient.There has been a great deal of mystique surrounding the evasive unicorn. This presentation will consider unicorns in ancient civilizations, the significance of the unicorn horn, references to it in the Bible, their influence during the Middle Ages, their depiction in heraldry and their enduring message for modern mystics. April 5th –  Yoga, history and philosophy? 

Yoga is a practice that connects the body, breath, and mind. It uses physical postures, breathing excercises, and meditation to improve overall health. Yoga was developed as a spiritual practice thousands of years ago. Presentation by Jennifer Jaeger

May 3rd –  One God or Many?  

Monotheism is the belief in the existence of only one God. It is the major belief of many major world religions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. But what are the origins of monotheism, where in the world was it first formed? Come along to our presentation as we discuss this fascinating subject. Presentation by Jennifer Pignataro

July 5th –  Pilgrimages.

Pilgrimages, journeys to both sacred and some secular sites are often more than just an arduous trek. As a spiritual odyssey, a pilgrimage can be a meaningful search for communion with the divine.Pilgrimage sites have the power to become portals into the transcendent, affording the pilgrim the chance to move beyond mundane affairs. What pilgrimage have you traversed? Come along to this compelling presentation we where we will learn about some of the well known and not so well known places of pilgrimage.
